SEPT 13: Wakeboarder Taylor L. Oxford

On Friday, Sept. 13 (yeah, we know) our guest will be none other than wakeboard sensation Taylor L. Oxford, known as “Tater Tot.”

A ninth grader at Lake Brantley High School in Longwood, Florida, Miss Tot attends the  same school as the Sovens and several other pro riders have attended.

“I have been wakeboarding since July of 2010,” she says. She’s also great on waterskis and a dynamite softball player and licensed scuba diver, but wakeboarding is her thing (read on).

Wake wonder Taylor McCullough – who is just a year older than Oxford – took her under her wing  and “has shown me some great tricks and even gave me one of her grind boards to use on the cable.”

Her heavy training schedule also includes boat sessions with Tarah Mikacich at Freedom Wake Park and cable ables by Nick Kamper at OWC.

“During this year’s Surf Expo Demo day, I competed in the BicSup Paddleboard race where I came in 4th and 1st in youth,” she says of the new sports thing she is awesome at. “I learned to paddle board during a vacation in Turks and Caicos Islands with my family.”

Look for Tater Tot next season on the competitive circuit on the cable and behind the boat. She’ll be riding a Liquid Force board on the cable and the new O’Brien Spark behind the boat.

“I do all my action video with the Polaroid High Definition Professional Action Camera Model XS100. I am always wearing my Jet Pilot Lady Luck Comp Vest, Heat Collection swim suit, Cabanalife 50+ UV Protection Rashguard and Pepper Sunglasses.”

OK. She’s also got the sponsor thing down as well.
