Sonoma Valley Shredder

Kevin Sutton Show

This week, we have an awesome action shot of a valley rider catching some nice air, coming straight out of Lake Sonoma, California.

The photo is credited to tech junkie Mike Vondran, a veteran of Silicon Valley who also happens to be an amateur wakeboarder, musician, adrenaline freak, and all-around world traveler extraordinaire.

But he’s also the guy in the photo. He’s like Tyler Perry.

This particular photo was taken with a Cannon EOS 1D Mark II.

Vondran has been traveling extensively for the last decade. He enjoys wake sports like wakeboarding and wake surfing. He’s also into snowboarding, running, surfing, and volleyball.

Mike (pictured here) says he started wakeboarding in 1999 while on a house boat trip with a good friend Brian Davis, and hasn’t stopped since. His preferred spot to ride is Lake Shasta.

“My favorite time of day to ride on Lake Shasta is just around dusk, when it is nice and warm out, the water is flat and you have been riding all day and are all warmed up for your last ride of the day,” he says.

“There is something special about finishing the day with that last ride, giving it your all, and then pulling up to the house boat on the lake for a bar-q-que dinner with friends. Priceless!”

One of the coolest things about Mike is he will be running the New York City Marathon on Nov. 4 for the American Heart Association, so we will be sure to get an update on how he does. Donate to support those efforts here.

We also have a video of Mike playing in the house band for a local TV comedy show.

Does this guy ever stop? We here at the Kevin Sutton Show don’t believe so.
